Special Event! “The Mayor’s Boat Ride”

Join us on August 5th for a special event on the Petaloo - the first “Mayor’s Boat Ride”
What: The Mayor’s Boat Ride – a tour of Petaluma’s waterways in non-motorized watercraft hosted by Friends of the Petaluma River and PSC3 (the Petaluma Small Craft Center Coalition)
When: Aug. 5th, 2007 - 10AM to 12:30PM (preceded by a boat tour Down-river in motorized craft to Ellis Creek for selected officials and community leaders)
Where: Petaluma Marina launch ramp – 781 Baywood Dr. (near Hwy 101 at Lakeville).
Who: All citizens with non-motorized watercraft are encouraged to participate (kayaks, canoes, traditional rowboats, outrigger canoes, sculls etc.)
How: Participants will need to provide their own watercraft and safety equipment, including approved PFD’s (personal flotation devices). People without watercraft are invited to meet the Mayor’s flotilla for displays, presentations, and refreshments when it comes ashore at the turning basin, near the foot of B St. Downtown Petaluma at 11:00 AM.
This event is a chance for the public to learn more about boating opportunities on the Petaluma River

Draft Itinerary for August 5th
10:00 – 11:00AM - non-motorized boat “flotilla” from the Marina to Turning Basin. Pause at Foundry Wharf for Mayor to change craft.
11:00 to 11:45 – go ashore for displays, speeches, and refreshments. Turning Basin’s western docks, foot of B & C St.
11:45 – 12:30 Return trip to Marina (Mayor may again change boats at Foundry Wharf)
