Petaluma River & “Friends” to be featured on TV Ch 5:
Alert! Watch Ch 5’s “Eye on the Bay” Friday May 18th at 7 PM.
KPIX TV San Francisco is showing a special program featuring the Petaluma River. “Friends” took the program’s host, Brian Hackney, and his crew for a daylong river tour from mouth of the river to the headwaters, visiting many points in between. From extensive video footage they should provide a unique ∏ hr. view of one of the North Bay’s premier waterways.

A “virtual” Nautical Mass in May:
The 3rd Friday in May falls on the 18th so let’s make this month’s Nautical Mass a “virtual” affair. Watch the KPIX program about the Petaluma River at 7PM at home, with other friends, or ask that it be televised at your favorite public gathering spot.
Do try to get out on the river before or after the show. There will be a great opportunity to do this on the first weekend in June (see below).
“Day on the Water” is June 2nd:
This is a chance for anyone who has wanted to get on the River in a small boat or to try a variety of natural powered watercraft to realize that goal.

PSC3 (Petaluma Small Craft Center Coalition, of which Friends is a member) will be hosting an event called Day on the Water on June 2nd.
Member organizations will offer basic rowing and paddling instruction and the opportunity to try an eight-oared rowing shell, a six-person outrigger canoe, and other human-powered watercraft including kayaks and traditional rowboats (note: height and age restrictions may apply to on-water activities). Educational displays about boating and the Petaluma River will be offered, along with refreshments.
