Petaluma River Tidings: March 23, 2007

Spring is a time of change and new beginnings. The same holds true at “Friends”

Change in the Tidings:

For the last year we have produced a month’s worth of Tidings at a time. Now we want to try something new. The plan is to send out news items and updates more frequently and in smaller packages. We hope this will keep the river community better informed and our website more current.

Change in the Website:

More changes here. Our Web site it has been completely remodeled by Friends volunteer and web genius Tiffany Renée. We now have more interactive features, a calendar and other improvements. We also plan to post news from our constituents and other river aficionados. More about how to do this in the near future.

TSCA Petaluma River Row is March 31:

The Traditional Small Craft Association’s Sacramento Chapter is once again visiting Petaluma for its annual Petaluma River Row. This is a great chance to see colorful traditional wooden boats up close and chat with their skippers.

Dolphin Tours are Back:

Dolphin Tours Vessel

Dolphin Charters has returned to Petaluma with a series of tours that continue on April 14th- 15th, and May 5th -6th. Skipper Ronn Patterson, a naturalist par excellence, narrates the tours with many interesting observations on wildlife and river history during the 3 hour cruises. They will once again be donating a portion of the $35 fare to Friends of the Petaluma River. These tours often sell out, so don’t miss the boat!

To make reservations call Dolphin Charters at (510) 527-9622.

If you are not a member yet please consider joining us now. We need your support.

We hope to see you on the water and in the community.

The Petaluma Small Craft Center Coalition (PSC3) is planning a “Day on the River” for June 2. It will be located at the Foundry Wharf at 2nd and H Streets. It’s intended to be a festival of small boats. The public will have a chance to try an outrigger canoe, an 8-oared shell, a kayak, canoe or traditional wooden boat. Friends of the Petaluma River will be there to support the event and the vitality of the small craft community in Petaluma!
